Formada pelas irmãs Keyla e Kênya a banda KSIS tem tudo pra conquistar o grande público com seu pop-rock cheio de atitude. Nascidas em Campos Belo (MG) as irmãs começaram a carreira aos 8 anos e participaram de vários festivais em seu estado, até que incentivadas pelo público e pela família decidiram se mudar pra São Paulo. Depois de muitos shows e aparições em programas de TV, como o de Raul Gil, decidiram gravar um CD Demo. O material, a maioria composto pela dupla, chamou atenção de produtores locais.Nesse primeiro trabalho, produzido por Guto Campos, gravaram 10 faixas que vão de baladas até o rock com guitarras marcantes e letras que falam das situações vividas pelos jovens. As irmãs também mostram seu lado compositora em 3 faixas: "Rima Pobre", "Pesadelo" e "Conselho de um Chapado".

Após dois anos de trabalho intenso com o álbum Porta Aberta, em dezembro de 2004, Luka fez uma pausa para se dedicar à filha recém-nascida. O tempo foi bom para recarregar as baterias e começar a pensar no álbum Sem Resposta, que foi gravado em três meses e traz a assinatura de Luka em sete de suas 11 faixas. A única regravação do álbum é "Não sei" (Tche e Charles Máster), música da banda gaúcha dos anos 80, TNT. Sempre pronta a valorizar seus conterrâneos, na música "A Aposta" (Felipe Elizade e Henrique Kunz), Luka contou com a participação especial de Serginho Moah, vocalista da banda Papas da Língua e seu amigo desde os tempos de barzinho em Porto Alegre. O disco foi produzido por Clemente, baixista do quinteto carioca Corredor 5, e conta com a participação de Fred Nascimento e Carlos Trilha (guitarra e teclados, integrantes da banda Tantra), Billy Brandão (guitarra), Lan Lan (percussão) e Sasha Amback (teclados). Ele já foi até garçom. Mas não se incomoda nem um pouco de falar sobre isso. Leandro, hoje conhecido (e muito) por Pica-Pau, se orgulha da infância humilde. Filho adotivo, Leandro que mora em Santísssimo, zona oeste da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, é muito grato por tudo que seus pais fizeram por ele. Depois de servir nos bufês dos pais, Leandro se juntava aos músicos para cantar. No colégio, não era um aluno exemplar, mas sua vocação para a música já era notável por todos. Aos 15 anos, tocava bateria numa banda de pop rock e rock. Aos 16, foi para a frente do palco e montou uma banda de pop rock e heavy metal. Depois, passou a se apresentar na noite, em festas com o seu melhor amigo, que conhece há 13 anos. Além de cantar, participou de shows acústicos tocando percussão e violão, no estado do Rio. Leandro é dono de uma característica marcante: seus cabelos vermelhos, uma homenagem aos Mamonas Assassinas, grupo que adora. Sua inspiração musical inclui o repertório de artistas como Zé Ramalho e Bruce Dickson (Iron Maiden). Já para os problemas da vida, busca forças na sua família e em Deus. Leandro diz que adora brincar e "perturbar" os outros, apesar de teimoso, faz amigos com facilidade. Como grande vencedor da disputa Leandro pretende ajudar a família. Acredita que o programa Ídolos foi sua grande chance de se mostrar para o Brasil, agora é só lutar por ainda mais sucesso!

Gravado entre os dias 18 e 19 de agosto de 2004 Engenheiros do Hawaii Acústico MTV celebra o repertório da banda gaúcha, composto ao longo dos últimos 20 anos. No disco, o "frontman" Humberto Gessinger se dividiu entre o violão, a gaita, o piano e o bandolim e contou com as contribuições dos músicos Paulinho Galvão, Bernardo Fonseca, Glaucio Ayala, Fernando Aranha e Humberto Barros. O repertório traz desde o clássico "Infinita Highway", de 1987, até sucessos recentes como "Até o Fim", de 2003. Um quarteto de cordas acompanha a banda em "Dom Quixote", "Vida Real", "Surfando Karmas" e "DNA". O disco também traz as participações de Carlos Maltz, ex-baterista do grupo e de Clara, filha de Gessinger. The celebrated performers featured on this five-disc box--John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Big Mama Thornton, Howlin' Wolf, and Sonny Boy (Rice Miller) Williamson among them--were seasoned veterans when these recordings were made between 1962 and 1965. They were, however, far from over the hill. Brought to Europe as part of an annual barnstorming tour designed to introduce the blues to the old country, the forefathers (and a few mothers) of various strains of the genre basked in their chance to show their skills to appreciative foreign audiences. They also clearly enjoyed each other's company. The nature of the American Folk Blues road shows made for some fascination collaborations: The 1962 set, for example, finds Hooker, then in his brooding prime, backed by guitar legend T-Bone Walker--on piano! Willie Dixon (the MVP here), Otis Spann, Lightnin' Hopkins, and Mississippi Fred McDowell are just a few of the other legends who turn up in this expansive document of the blues revival that topped all blues revivals. --Steven Stolder

It's not overstating the case to contend that the Byrds' debut is the font from which all folk-rock spouts. The Bob Dylan-penned title track hit No. 1 two months before the album arrived, in the process heralding a new sound that braided involved lyrics with a driving beat, chiming guitars, and vaguely trippy harmonies.The album (and, indeed, it is an album, rather than a haphazard collection of songs, as was the standard of the day) followed through on the promise of the single. Four of the dozen songs on the original pressing were Dylan compositions, but the originals from Gene Clark and Roger McGuinn nearly matched their appeal, particularly "I Feel a Whole Lot Better," perhaps the quintessential Byrds tune. This well-chosen 11-track collection succeeds admirably in its attempt to represent the Mississippi, the river of blues. This deep, wide, multihued collection of blues combines an expansive chronological and stylistic sweep with a commendable attention to entertainment value through its emphasis on the unexpected. Bobby "Blue" Bland's awe-inspiring vocal on "St. James Infirmary," a masterpiece of American music, is an expected highlight, but selections like Ike and Tina Turner's 1969 take on the B.B. King standard "3 O'clock in the Morning" and the electrifying Luther Allison's "Part Time Love," a Motown gem from early in his career, provide satisfying surprises. Chris Thomas King's subtle but significant modernization of Robert Johnson's "Come On in My Kitchen," a performance both rootsy and progressive, is a perfect fit for the collection. Much of the music has a folksy feel, especially the work of Mississippi John Hurt, an acoustic purist until the end, who rolls through a back-to-the-basics "Make Me a Pallet on Your Floor," and that of voluntary European exile Memphis Slim, whose piano-powered "Stewball" features the legendary Willie Dixon on bass. John Lee Hooker used to say "the blues is a feeling," but this collection is proof that it's also a universal language. A recent discovery, Irmin's Way were an obscure mid-70's Anglo-German band who recorded an LP in 1976, that remained unreleased and lost until 1995. Taking their name from the Saxon god that slayed a dragon, their conceptual opus was steeped in mythology too. In the classic tradition of Krautrock bands of the era, Irmin's Way notably drew on the cosmic side of Pink Floyd, close to Belgian's Dragon, or towards Gäa's psychedelic space-tripping. A touch amateurish, and not that well produced, it is nonetheless a classic of the genre.

One of the most enduring rock bands to come out of London’s East-End. This Cockney quartet boasted a very loyal following and they also had a big influence on Iron Maiden who used to go and watch them- several "later" Maiden riffs crop up on this recording alone!! This bass heavy soundboard recording was made live at the famous Greyhound in Fulham Palace Road during their heaviest phase, plus 2 bonus cuts from an earlier gig both of which feature their trademark high energy style courtesy of some ferocious lead guitar and a prominent, swirling Hammond. Includes sleeve notes by band’s producer David J. Burrows.
Trivia: The band were formerly known as Turquoise (famous for the popsike classic 'Tales Of Flossie Fillet' on Rubble 11) and also recorded copycat singles of other acts under pseudonyms: the single 'Tales Of A Crooked Man', would you believe, was actually released (in Holland only) on Tamla Motown!!

Paula Toller lança 2º disco solo e diz que quem copia CD é bandido
A cantora Paula Toller, que lançou seu segundo CD solo no mês de junho, disse em entrevista online nesta quinta-feira que é absolutamente contra a pirataria de rua. "O cara que copia um CD é um bandido", afirma.
"Eu não acho que as pessoas que baixam música devam ser presas. Meu filho faz e eu não reprimo. Isso é uma coisa dos novos tempos e é claro que a indústria vai ter que se adaptar. O que eu não admito é quem copia para vender", declara.
Nove anos após o lançamento de seu primeiro álbum solo, Paula Toller enfrenta dificuldades que não existiam há uma década atrás. Além das novas tecnologias de música pela Internet, a cantora lida com a crise no mercado fonográfico.
"O disco físico está perdendo o valor. Ele pode ser copiado facilmente", relata. "Tem pessoas que realmente não têm condições, mas outras dão R$ 300 em uma calça e não compram um CD", diz a cantora.
Com 14 músicas - oito de sua autoria - e letras ainda mais pessoais, Só Nós mostra a evolução de Paula Toller em sua carreira solo, mesmo intercalando seu trabalho com a lotada agenda do grupo Kid Abelha, em que atua como vocalista.
"O trabalho foi quase o mesmo. Eu compunha nos dias da semana e saía em shows aos finais de semana. A única diferença é que tive que ser mais esquizofrênica", brinca.
Uma das canções de destaque do CD é Barcelona 16, que Paula fez especialmente para o filho, Gabriel, que se emancipou. "Eu vou contar que antes de conseguir mostrar esta música para meus parceiros, chorei muito. Eu fiz no violão e meu filho não esboçou reação quando escutou."
Só Nós também é fruto de diversas parcerias. O álbum traz composições de Dado Villa-Lobos e Jesse Harris, além da presença de Donavon Frankenreiter, marcante nos shows de Ben Harper, e letras de Kevin Johansen.
Questionada sobre a experiência de misturar tantas personalidades em um só trabalho, Paula foi enfática: "Com cada um é uma coisa. É como sexo."
Além do lançamento do CD, Paula Toller deve sair em turnê de divulgação em agosto, começando em Porto Alegre. Sobre o Kid Abelha, a cantora cita: "Não quero dividir público com ninguém. Acho que os fãs mais assíduos vão acompanhar meu trabalho, mas não estou concorrendo." FONTE:

Atlantis seemed to be permanently on tour during 1975, so the band put together their best sessions, recorded at the Hamburg Fabrik between '73 and '75, for a double album called simply 'Live'. The quintet played on top form, revealing both spontaneity and great musical power. One German music magazine said the album "Already sounded like a world-wide hit". Out of 14 songs, 13 were composed by the band, topped off with an excellent version of B.B.King's classic 'Rock Me Baby'.

ELOY - INSIDE (1973)
"Inside" had just four tracks, beginning with dark and menacing astral travelling of 17 minute 'epic' Land Of No Body, primarily a vehicle for Wieczorke to take centre stage with his flamboyant improvisation and experimentation, taking in some riff-tastic themes and head-down grooves along the way. Brilliant title track Inside has a lovely tick tock feel, with a gripping sinister riff-theme before heading off into the stratosphere. Future City has a nice loping percussive beat and a guitar-led instrumental jam but is overshadowed by impending final track Up And Down, a classic Eloy combination of languid haunting spaciness, a seering workout dominated by fat overdriven organ chords, and a sublime laid-back slow-smoking bluesy-jazzy number. ~ progarchives.comHIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The Axeman Cometh (1968-72 - Hea)vy-psych Proto-Doom: Witchcraft, Pentagram, Black Sabbath)
Not a lot of info out there on this band, since it appears they never had a legitimate release back in 1968-72 when this material was originally recorded. It wouldn't be until 1994 that the Kissing Spell label would give these recording the light of day, but now even those releases are difficult to find in any format.
Don't let that stop you from taking the plunge and snagging this proto-doom hard-fuzz monster. If you've ever heard a modern Swedish band called Witchcraft, then you already have something of a primer for 70's basement-doom and minor-chord lyte-psych melodies that are common do both of these bands. Imagining if Sabbath Bloody Sabbath-era Black Sabbath, instead of getting all synthy and fast, went into a bit more Jethro Tull-esque folksy melodic jamming. Weird sounding, I know, but I wouldn't be surprised if both The Wicked Lady and Witchcraft share Pentagram as a common denominator.
The first track "Run The Night" is the most balls-to-the-wall rocking, and the song "The Wicked Lady" sound right out of the aforementioned Witchcraft's catalog. Other songs, like "War Cloud" might wait a full 4 min before the vocals kick in, and "The Axeman Cometh" is a hard-rocking instrumental. Add a healthy does of wah-wah hell into the mix, and you might occasionally come a bit too close to wanky-jamming overkill.
But, not for me. The lost-in-a-void vocals, and acid-hangover guitar total blows most other supposedly "heavy" 70's releases out of the water. Singer-guitarist Martin Weaver, here with drummer "Mad" Dick Smith, and bassist Bob Jeffries, would later join another Kissing Spell discovered treasure band, The Dark. I've never heard that album, so if anyone's got it, let me know.

Other songs, like "War Cloud" might wait a full 4 min before the vocals kick in, and "The Axeman Cometh" is a hard-rocking instrumental. Add a healthy does of wah-wah hell into the mix, and you might occasionally come a bit too close to wanky-jamming overkill.
But, not for me. The lost-in-a-void vocals, and acid-hangover guitar total blows most other supposedly "heavy" 70's releases out of the water. Singer-guitarist Martin Weaver, here with drummer "Mad" Dick Smith, and bassist Bob Jeffries, would later join another Kissing Spell discovered treasure band, The Dark. I've never heard that album, so if anyone's got it, let me know.

This group that represents the late 60s, early 70s heavy psychedelic era scene in Ohio, USA (Dragonwyck). Wild progressive instrumental power trio sounds, recorded in New York, although the group originally camr from San Antonio, Texas. A real killer in style, this album is going to be outside the realm of this book for some, and yet some dealers describe it as psychedelic, so go figure. A good record is a good record, and this one is recommended!
The band ceased recording after Tony (Anthony) Viola was tragically killed in an auto-train wreck in August 1974.

Although this was recorded and released as the soundtrack to a 1968 Italian soft pornography film, it holds up pretty well as a proper album. While Freedom's sound wasn't too original, often sounding much like Traffic and Procol Harum, the songs are pretty strong and the playing quite good. If you collect British psychedelia from this period, you can tell right away that these guys were at a higher level than the average such collectable outfit which only did a couple singles or an album; items like "Seeing Is Believing" and "Born Again" would have fit in pretty well on the Chocolate Soup for Diabetics compilations of rare British '60s psych. Mike Lease's classical-influenced organ and piano are especially imaginative, and sometimes they come up
with tracks that escape the Procol/Traffic comparisons, like the melodic "The Better Side," with its tasteful dots of orchestration, and "The Butt of Deception," an extremely wry and British tune reminiscent of Ray Davies' late-1960s songs for the Kinks.

Freedom's first album after drummer/singer Bobby Harrison totally revamped the lineup was typical lumpy British hard rock circa 1969, with nothing in the way of interesting songwriting or instrumental innovation to grab one's attention. In a way, they made for an ideal support act for an emerging and insecure headliner; they weren't going to upstage anyone. Sometimes they would leave off the generic blues-flavored hard rock for poppier or folkier material with harmonies, but melody and originality were not present in abundance. And it's playing a losing game to record covers of the Beatles' "Cry Baby Cry" and the Zombies' "Time of the Season," both of which had just been released, in much better and more popular versions of course, by the original artists; the Howlin' Wolf covers don't do the master much credit, either. This rip is from Green Tree reissue CD with 2 bonus tracks.

Freedom's third album, originally issued in 1970 and reissued on CD in 2000 by Angel Air, is dire period British hard rock in the power trio format. While there's occasional laid-back reflective songwriting amongst the largely original material, its lumpy rhythms and unexceptional melodies make it hard to say much of anything about it, really, except to note that it's easy to envision them as a support act on any number of shows and tours of the era. The numbers emphasizing vocal harmonies are at least inoffensive (if boring), which can't be said of their outings into boogie blues-rock and proto-metal (as on the title track) that really grate. It might have been a cool idea in 1970 to cover the Standells' "Dirty Water," which wasn't a hit in Britain and wasn't yet fashionable as a garage band standard. It is not cool, however, to retitle the song "Frustrated Woman" and take the songwriting credits, as the members do even on the sleeve of the 2000 CD release.

More routine, circa 1970, heavy rock. It differs from their previous effort (Freedom at Last) in the greater length of the songs, which hover around the five-minute mark, and the jettisoning of blues and rock covers (which had comprised a good chunk of Freedom at Last) in favor of all-original material. On "Freestone" they get close to a Jack Bruce-with-Cream mood; the opening piano tinkles of "Thanks" are just different enough from the Beatles' "Let It Be" to avoid plagiarism. Not that Lennon-McCartney would have even come close to recovering their court costs if they had sought a turnover in publishing royalties, of course. The record has been reissued as half of a double CD that also includes their 1970 album Freedom at Last.

The ultra-rare live bootleg by Captain Beyond. Recorded live at Arlington, Texas in 1973 with original line-up, this live album features all classic CB tracks like Dancing Madly Backwards, Distant Sun, Mypopic Void etc. plus an excellent guitar solo from Rhino & a fantastic drum solo by Bobby Caldwell and lastly, a rendition of Jimi Hendrix's Stone Free. This is definitive CB live in concert & by far, the best sounding live bootleg by them (there's no official live album of Captain Beyond). Rod Evans reaps through this set while Rhino & Bobby Caldwell are consistent as ever. This gig shows the real dynamics of the band & proves how great they were in live settings. Sad that Captain Beyond didn't last long, but their impact on today's heavy prog/stoner rock revivalists is evident.

This album, originally released during the early seventies, is one of the best finest "over-looked" Hard Rock albums. Led by singer-drummer Don Francisco all the songs were written by guitarist Michael Stevens (formely of the Boston Tea Party?) and each song is great. The "softer" songs ("Bells" and "All I Need") should have been huge hits in their day. The other six songs are among the heaviest of the era (especially "Fifteen").

When the subject of heavy metal pioneers comes up (and one gets past the obvious bands like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and Deep Purple), several lesser-known but still remembered bands are invariably mentioned, and one of them is Sir Lord Baltimore, who hailed not from Baltimore but from New York.
They formed in the late 60's and managed two albums before giving it up (confusingly, the self-titled album is their second, not first). Given that these were released in 1970-1971, one shouldn't expect modern crushing guitars, but this was pretty heavy stuff for the time (particularly the debut), a wild, psychedelic hard rock sound that occasionally brings to mind early Budgie as well as the aforementioned Zep. They may have been the first hard rock band whose drummer was their lead singer, still a rarity in heavy metal. When modern stoner bands are referenced as "70s-influenced", this is the kind of band they're referring to.
Update: Sir Lord Baltimore have just released a new 3rd album called III Raw with six new songs. The CD can be directly bought from drummer-vocalist John Garnar: jgarnerslb@yahoo.com.

If Himig Natin is the first, then this is the second and only other official compact disc release of music by hard-rock powerhouse power trio (a band, not a man) from the Phillippines, who flourished in the 1970s. Totally rocked out bluesy stoner jams, with sex and party obsessed lyrics that are pure rock 'n' roll. Maskara was originally released in 1974 and it's the band's second studio album and is another outstanding collection of heavy duty rockers featuring the classic band line-up of Wally Gonzales, Mike Hanopol, and Joey Pepe Smith. Highlights abound: Pinoy Blues, Nadapa Sa Arina, Beep Beep, We Love You, Palengke and Pagod Sa Pahinga, quite a few of which were featured on the unofficial Shake Your Brains disc from a few years ago (always a customer favorite). No-frills packaging, but still a great way to acquire some of the best material by these heavy rock legends. Digitally remastered CD reissue from the Philippines!

Juan De La Cruz (a band, not a man, so it's filed under "J") was a hard-rock powerhouse powertrio from the Phillippines who flourished in the nineteen seventies. This bootleg-looking disc reissues one of their earliest albums (no date given, sorry, but i guess '71 or so), and it's a killer. Totally rocked out bluesy stoner jams, with brilliantly fucked sex and party obsessed lyrics ("get drunk all day, get down all night", "I'll just wait for you down in the alley / and I'll show you how it can be"). And guitarist Wally Gonzales has got his acid-psych leads down, man! It's not clear who's singing (it might be the drummer, an American who previously played in the equally primal Japanese psychrock band Speed, Glue, & Shinki) but whoever it is, he's got the perfect delivery for this stuff, which includes one of our all-time favorite garage-psych songs, "I Wanna Say Yeah" -- perhaps the ultimate rock n' roll song title/lyric *EVER*. I mean, yeah! None of today's rockers, stoners, or garage revivalists can touch that.
Highly Recommended for stoner freaks!!! This is a classic!!!

These recordings from the Kansas City threesome, JPT Scare Band, from 1973-75, have been bootlegged for eons at pricey sums. If the band had a signed record contract back in the early '70s, there is no doubt they would be up there with Jimi Hendrix, Cream, and Black Sabbath for guitar overload damage. Unfortunately, these recordings never really made it out of the inner circles of hard psych heads. This is a classic snapshot into the basement of a true American Rock Band doing what they do best. It is easy to imagine all their friends freaking freely to their brand of tripped-out, space-vibe rock. Interesting liner and production notes round out this great package (lots of photos, lyrics, etc.) and proves that, in the mid-'70s, not all of American rock was asleep or staring at its navel.
The JPT Scare Band's screaming electric psych/blues barely made it past the basement where they first rehearsed back in 1973, but someone was smart enough to tape these three titans of volume at work. That work became the album known as Sleeping Sickness, an album spoke about in hushed reverence among heavy psych heads that were lucky enough to hear it.
Past is Prologue gives us a snapshot of the band through time, including tracks recorded in 1975, '76, '77, '93 - and oddly the best track, Sci-Fi acid-epic "Burn in Hell", recorded in 2001. The reason I say "oddly", is because the band seems not to have skipped a beat over the years. The musical chemistry between the three members of the band is awe- inspiring..."Burn in Hell" sounds as fiery and intense as, say, "Time To Cry" did back in '75.
The beauty of the JPT Scare Band is it's ability to function as a unit in the nebulous field of the free-form heavy jam. They start with a chord progression and the rest is a musical conversation, the direction dictated by unspoken energies. Terry Swope is a gawdam genius. One of the best all around soul guitarists I've ever heard. The kind that are unencumbered by strict technique and play soley based on smoldering emotion. Definitely in the league with the best in that genre...Hendrix, Duane Allman, Robin Trower and Carlos Santana. The other two comparatively unheralded players in the band are of equal importance - bassist Paul Grigsby anchors the band with an equal amount of soul and passion and drummer Jeff Littrell knows when to dig in with a fill and push the band a bit, and then back off in the more soulful moments. The end result is nothing short of mind-blowing.
A must for those into heavy psych and/or those that are true aficionados of the mysteries of the jam.

McFee, Call and Howie all met at Tamalpais High School and formed the Tiny Hearing Aid Company. In 1967, when they teamed up with Giambotti - formerly with the bluegrass act The Valley Boys and the Outfit, they became Clover. The next two years were spent giging around venues like the Avalon and the Fillmore, before John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival helped them to sign a contract with Fantasy.
The second album is more country rock oriented but is still interesting with Mr. Moon, Chicken Butt and Keep On Trying. Both albums were produced by Ed Bogas, who was the fifth member of the group and an active studio musician (also with David and Tina Meltzer) and soundtrack composer (notably for Ralph Bakshi's 'Fritz The Cat').
Clover drifted back into obscurity and finally, circa 1975, McFee, Call and Giambotti came to England with new members Huey Lewis, Micky Shine and Sean Hopper to launch a new career. This new line-up of Clover somehow managed to play with Elvis Costello on his first album, My Aim Is True, and even signed a new recording contract with Vertigo/Mercury which resulted on two new albums in 1976 and 1977 (Clover and Unavailable), which are totally different from their previous efforts.

Nessa compilação ele colocou introduções de Wolfman Jack, famoso locutor que deu asas à imaginação de muta gente,saído diretamente da trilha sonora de "American Grafitti", George Lucas, 1973.Uma sequência de tirar o fôlego, e que vai acalmando aos poucos...Mixou trechos de clássicos de vários momentos, mas todos focados no tema da ingenuidade musical dos primórdios do Rock, uma mistura de Doo Wop, Country, Jazz, Folk e Soul, que sempre fizeram e ainda fazem as nossas cabeças...

Cantora. Conviveu com a música desde a infância. Seu pai foi cantor de ópera e sua mãe tocava piano. Mudou-se para São Paulo aos 16 anos de idade. Nessa cidade começou a jogar basquete e chegou a fazer parte da seleção brasileira.
Em 1973, assinou contrato com a gravadora Odeon e gravou seu primeiro LP, "Simone". Ainda nesse ano, viajou para a Europa com o espetáculo "Panorama brasileiro", apresentando-se na Feira Brazil Export de Bruxelas (Bélgica) e no Olympia de Paris (França), a convite de Hermínio Belo de Carvalho. Em seguida, foi convidada pela produtora norte-americana Madison Square para uma turnê de três meses nos Estados Unidos e no Canadá.
Em 1974, lançou os LPs "Brasil Export" (Europa) e "Quatro paredes".
No ano seguinte, gravou os discos "Festa Brasil" (Estados Unidos) e "Gota d'água". Destacou-se com as interpretações de "De frente pro crime" e "Bodas de prata", ambas de João Bosco e Aldir Blanc, e "Começar de novo" (Ivan Lins e Vitor Martins), seu primeiro grande sucesso.
Em 1976, emocionou o público brasileiro com a gravação de "Gota d'água" (Chico Buarque), em dueto com Milton Nascimento.
Ainda na década de 1970, lançou os LPs "Face a face", "Cigarra" e "Pedaços". Este último gerou, em 1979, o show homônimo com direção de Flávio Rangel, com estréia no Canecão (RJ) seguida de turnê pelo Brasil, tendo sido assistido por mais de 120.000 pessoas.
Em 1980, lançou os discos "Simone, ao vivo" e "Simone/Atrevida". Resgatou a canção "Caminhando/Pra não dizer que não falei de flores", de Geraldo Vandré, vetada pela censura durante o regime militar, gravação que se destacou como um de seus maiores sucessos.

57 anos de jazz. Setentões que tocam por prazer e amor ao gênero musical de New Orleans. O álbum The Top Hits da Doctor Dixie Jazz Band comemora os 50 anos do conjunto jazzístico - sustentado por muitos como o mais antigo em atividade em todo o mundo. No CD, há gravações feitas desde a década de 1960, com participações de Louis Armstrong e artistas italianos de renome, como Paolo Conte, Johnny Dorelli e Lucio Dalla. São 14 faixas inspiradas no ragtime, dixieland e no swing. Destaque para boas interpretações de temas de Duke Ellington e Dizzy Gillispie e composições próprias do cinquentenário conjunto. A formação big band é liderada pelo ginecologista Leonardo Giardina, que encarna um trompetista que já dividiu o palco com Louis Armstrong e Miles Davis. Na Doctor Dixie é assim: são médicos, advogados, empresários. Ao mesmo tempo todos são músicos de alto calibre, mas o jazz vem em segundo plano - por razão de escolha e pura maturidade dos músicos. A principal característica do grupo são as apresentações religiosas, todas às sextas-feiras, na Cantina Dixie, um templo ao jazz num porão de um prédio qualquer perdido no centro de Bolonha, região nordeste da Itália. A Doctor Dixie Jazz Band ensaia de portas abertas ao público. Tocam por prazer e ainda agradecem.

"Este foi tudo rápido. A idéia foi de um cara, Roni, dono de uma loja de discos em Salvador onde a Gal Costa trabalhava como vendedora. Ele arranjou tudo. Aí eu disse para o Chico que ele deveria cantar 'Com Açúcar e com Afeto', que era uma coisa de mulher. Ele disse que tinha uma melhor, uma história homossexual de duas mulheres e cada um faria uma, 'Bárbara'. Tem uma obra prima, 'Deus Dará', um sucesso nacional. 'Tem Você Não Entende Nada' junto com 'Cotidiano', que ficou lindo. O disco fez o maior sucesso."

Vitrine - Novidades e descobertas da música brasileira
Tem atuado como cantora desde 1998 passando por diversas bandas de baile da região e atualmente faz shows com a Banda Vila Jazz, cantando desde a antiga até a atual Música Popular Brasileira, o Jazz e Blues americanos, destacando as influências de Elis Regina e Ella Fitzgerald.
Um de seus trabalhos de maior sucesso atualmente é o show “Divas Brasil” com canções das maiores intérpretes brasileiras, realizado juntamente com o violonista Emanuel Massaro, o baixista Alexandre Santos e o percussionista Ricardo Sartori.
Raquel Rochia também é professora de Canto popular da Escola de Música Vila Jazz (Limeira/SP), é formanda do curso de Educação Artística com habilitação em Música pela UNASP e faz Pós-graduação em Regência Coral.
Está preparando um repertório para seu primeiro CD com influências do jazz e da bossa, do samba e até da soul music.
As gravações aqui apresentadas foram captadas do espetáculo “Vila Jazz e Orquestra Sinfônica de Limeira”, realizado em 2006 no Teatro Vitória, com o título de “História da Bossa” (o show contou com 16 músicas intercaladas por comentários realizados pelo grupo de teatro Cia. Pêlo de Gato Preto, sobre a história deste movimento musical) e foram feitas apenas para divulgação.

Durante as décadas de 50 e 60, onde o Hard Bop teve o seu grande apogeu, muitos músicos de extremo valor surgiram. Mesmo com grandes contribuições, sejam elas como artista solo ou colaborador, Sonny ficou conhecido apenas depois da sua prematura morte em 1963, devido a uma overdose em decorrência do seu vício em heroína. Um homem que trazia um toque totalmente original nas suas raras composições, com melodias complexas e muito swing. Um dos motivos que pode ter levado Clark a ser pouco conhecido, foi que ele era muito mais colaborador do que artista solo. Sonny tinha contrato com a Blue Note e trabalhou com diversos artistas da gravadora como John Coltrane, Art Farmer, Donald Byrd, Jackie McLean e outros. One of the biggest names of Scandinavian progressive groups that became well-known worldwide. Their music can be described as progressive jazz-rock under influences of beat, R&B, psychedelia... The compositions present often improvisational long passages with Karsten Vogel's (soprano sax, alto sax) musical visions. The other members are: Kim Menzer (flute, violin, trombone, harmonica), Ole Fick (guitars, vocals), Jess Stæhr (bass), Bo Thrige Andersen (drums).
They started in 1967 but the first album appeared two years later. It was double LP M144. By many considered their best. The comparison to The Who is especially clear in this early period. Most of the compositions have lyrics in native language but this changed with the following records where dominating language was English. The second, self-titled album presents the same style and similar record structure: after dynamic opening Across The Windowsill (on M144 it is famous Ivanhoe I Brøndbyerne) compositions of various style and atmosphere come: R&B Rotating Irons, dynamic blues-rock Gong-Gong, The Elephant Song, the ballad Near The Sea, etc. The last track is titled Secret Oyster Service - does it remind you of something? The third album WWW is probably their most progressive work. The music is more placid without crazy sax solos and R&B tracks; also over 8-minutes excellent 2nd Floor, Croydon has more progressive character. In the same year the band recorded LP with Danish folk singer Povl Dissing. Although the compositions are more folk oriented and all lyrics are in Danish there are some moments, especially over 10-minutes Tingel-Tangelmanden that could be interesting for progressive rock fans.
The group split in 1972 but before it happened they recorded one more album - it was "live in studio" Miley Smile/Stage Recall. Surprisingly, it contains only three old compositions: Ivanhoe I Brøndbyerne, Rotating Irons and Indre Landskab (however in different versions). The rest presents fresh material like rousing The Monster Song, funny cover version of the old standard Red River Rock or the longest and the most typical for the group, jazzy Bareback Rider. Crow was formed in 1967 by singer Dave Wagner, guitarist Dick Weigand, bassist Larry Weigand, keyboardist Kink Middlemist, and drummer Harry Nehls under the name South 40, which was used until the group went national. Nehls was replaced by Denny Craswell once the group went national.[1] Columbia Records brought them in to record a demo in 1969; they passed, and Crow was signed to Amaret. [2]
In 1969, Crow’s debut album "Crow Music" was recorded. The single "Evil Woman (Don’t Play Your Games With Me) " made the Billboard Top 20 that fall.[3] "Crow by Crow" and "Mosaic" were the follow-up releases in 1970 and 1971 respectively. Singles released off Crow’s later albums were not as successful; the band wanted to move to Elektra Records, but Amaret wouldn’t let them out of their contract while retaining their name. Wagner left the group in 1971; the band replaced him with Mick Stanhope and attempted to move forward, but collapsed for good in 1972. Crow is great Minneapolis blues-rock quintet

Randy Holden might be the Great Lost Guitar Hero of the 1960's. As the string-bender for the Fender IV, the Sons of Adam, the Other Half, (briefly) Blue Cheer, and then as a soloist on the rare Population II album, he navigated the course of California 1960's guitar rock, from surf music and garage-psychedelia to hard rock and near-heavy metal. Whatever the context, you could always count on sustain-laden leads more ferocious than those by almost anyone else in the business. It is that sustain, more than anything else, that makes him something of an American counterpart to Jeff Beck; like Beck, Holden also helped pioneer feedback and other kinds of electric guitar distortion. Holden also liked, and still likes, to play loud. Extremely accomplished debut from this Massachusetts band, originally released in the US on RCA. Following the eponymous album’s success, the band toured extensively as the opening act for the Allman Brothers. Fat ’s mix of east coast blues and west coast psychedelia, strongly influenced by Quicksilver Messenger Service et al, could have propelled the band into the big time, but an unfortunate drug bust led RCA to cancel a planned follow-up album, and try as they might, the group were unable to secure another recording contract, although two further albums were released in the late ‘70s, both of which were produced by ex-Mountain man, Felix Papallardi. Over the years Fat toured with a host of rock luminaries, sharing the stage with, amongst others, Grand Funk Railroad, Little Richard, Bonnie And Delaney, Johnny Winter and Robin Trower, but unfortunately their success as a live band didn’t translate into commercial success

STELA CAMPOS transita fora do circuito da grande mídia e das grandes gravadoras desde o final dos anos 80, quando cantava jazz em casas noturnas paulistanas. Naquela época, além de standards de jazz, incluía em seu repertório releituras de David Bowie e Van Morrison. Em 91 funda a banda Lara Hanouska (nome tirado de uma artista plástica islandesa ou de uma atriz pornô underground, segundo declarações alternadas da cantora), paralelamente se junta a cult Funziona Senza Vapore, formada por ex-integrantes do Fellini, participando da gravação do único disco da banda, que permaneceu inédito por 10 anos até ser lançado. Em meados de 94 vai morar em Recife, onde remonta o Lara Hanouska com músicos locais. Lá conhece Chico Science & Nação Zumbi e vê nascer toda a geração do mangue beat. No final dos 90, Stela dá início à sua carreira solo e experimenta novas sonoridades, gravando, inclusive, trilhas sonoras para curtas-metragens e cantando a música tema do longa Baile Perfumado de Paulo Caldas e Lírio Ferreira, filme-símbolo da mangue beat. Em 98, ainda no Recife, lança de maneira independente Céu de Brigadeiro, gravado e mixado em duas semanas, e considerado pela crítica como um dos álbuns mais inovadores do ano. No ano de 2000, volta a São Paulo e grava seu segundo disco, Fim de Semana, verdadeira crônica da grande metrópole, lançado dois anos mais tarde, também de maneira independente. Em meio a shows no circuito underground e participações em projetos musicais, Stela investe na carreira de jornalista, sempre exercendo a profissão. Seu disco mais recente, Hotel Continental, traz os elementos eletrônicos dos trabalhos anteriores, mas com uma sonoridade mais rocker e a mesma poesia bela e crua retratando a cinzenta São Paulo de forma certeira. Essa cantora emocionante de Volta Redonda (RJ) é também compositora e apesar da pouca idade, já tem uma vasta experiência em palcos brasileiros e internacionais.Pois bem, conheci este álbum "Sara Bentes canta Los Hermanos" (que apesar de ser demo, tem ótima qualidade) há cerca de seis meses e, à época, me emocionou bastante e hoje, por acaso, ouvi novamente e tiro e queda, me emocionei ainda mais.
Além da beleza das canções dos Hermanos, tem a voz de Sara acompanhada, basicamente por um piano tão delicado quanto sua linda voz.

Creedence Clearwater Revival foi uma banda de rock americana formada por John Fogerty (guitarra e vocais principais), Tom Fogerty (guitarra), Stu Cook (baixo) e Doug Clifford (bateria), que, sob outras denominações, tocavam juntos desde 1959. Adotaram o nome Creedence Clearwater Revival em 1967, com o qual lançaram as primeiras gravações em 1968. O nome C.C.R. surgiu pela junção do nome de um amigo do Tom Fogerty chamado “Creedence Nubal” e por um comercial de cerveja “Clearwater”. Já naquele ano obtiveram disco de ouro com o álbum Creedence Clearwater Revival. Ao longo da carreira, entre singles e álbuns, conquistaram nove discos de ouro e sete discos de platina. Separaram-se em julho de 1972. John Fogerty foi quem teve mais êxito na carreira solo. Seu irmão Tom faleceu em 6 de setembro de 1990. Recentemente, Stu Cook e Doug Clifford formaram o genérico Creedence Clearwater Revisited, e passaram a excursionar pelo mundo, tocando antigos sucessos da banda original.
